For the love of Marshmallows and Sprinkles Party!

Add Sprinkles to an ice cream cone or a cake and suddenly the treat is a celebration.  So why not make the party theme Sprinkles and Marshmallows!

A marshmallow pop making station and games were enjoyed by all the party guests at this Marshmallow and Sprinkles Party styled by Lettuce & Co.  The main dessert table was filled with all things marshmallow and sprinkles.  Super sprinkled covered chocolate birthday cake, mini marshmallow cakes, chocolate coated Oreo pops, cookies and marshmallow frosted cupcakes were served.  The party wouldn’t be complete without diy touches. Details such as the sprinkled filled balloons, sprinkle edged frames, marshmallow ceiling garland, hand painted (dotted) party bags, pom pom flowers and sprinkle rimmed drink bottles made this party so cute!

Candy Necklace Party Ideas!

 Candy Necklace Party Ideas!

Fun to wear and even more fun to eat! Candy necklaces were first introduced in 1958 and have been a favorite ever since!

These necklaces are made by Ce De Candy, the company that makes Smarties....they taste so good!

CANDY NECKLACE NAPKIN RING-PLACE CARDS!

Wrap a candy necklace around your napkin, add a name tag and you have an adorable place card!

 CANDY NECKLACE CAKE TOPPER!

CANDY NECKLACE CAKE TOPPER MATERIALS:
—Scissors
—4 candy necklaces
—2 natural bamboo skewers (12″ long each)
—Needle nose pliers
STEP BY STEP CANDY NECKLACE CAKE TOPPER INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Take one candy necklace, and cut it in one spot. Be careful to grab each end of the newly cut necklace so that the candy beads remain on the necklace string.

2. Carefully remove beads from the necklace as needed depending on the size of your cake. For the 8″ round diner cake used in these photos, it was appropriate to remove about 1/4 of the beads per necklace. To free up your hands, use needle nose pliers to pinch off the opposite end of the necklace- preventing beads from rolling away.
3. Tie each end of the necklace securely to the bamboo skewers. Again, use the needle nose pliers to protect the exposed end you are not working on.

4. Repeat steps one, two, and three for each of the additional candy garlands you add to the cake topper. Space each candy necklace to your liking. There’s about 3/4″ between each necklace in the photo.
5.Adorn cake with the candy garland cake topper. For a fun presentation when serving, garnish each piece of cake with a sprinkle of leftover candy beads.

6. Have an extra skewer and necklace leftover for party crafting? Upgrade the fancy level of the topper by  following the instructions above. This time, however, use a shared center skewer with two outer skewers to create a larger, festival-like topper.

CANDY NECKLACE GARLAND!

A party table draped in candy-what could be sweeter? To make a sugary swag, cut through the elastics of candy necklaces, and remove a few rings from each end. Tie necklaces together to make a circle that will reach around your table. Attach to tablecloth with safety pins, securing from underneath.

Enjoy!

Drying Hydrangeas

We love fresh flowers.  We adore hydrangeas.  We will even tolerate dried flowers as long as they’re hydrangeas.

It’s not so much a question of how to dry hydrangeas, as much as when to dry them. Generally, the later in the growing season, the better results you’ll have. Dusty pink or green tones are good signs when looking for candidates for drying. The whiter varieties don’t dry as well.  Here is a picture of my hydrangea bush this morning - perfect blooms for drying.

There are a few ways to do it, but we believe this is the best way.
First, find yourself a hydrangea bush. LOL. Your neighbors would love to give you a couple of blooms (if you make dried flowers for them also). When blooms begin to fade and turn papery, clip them leaving some of the stem. Make sure you do this before the first frost.

Strip leaves and stick the stems in a vase of water. Then leave them alone. The water will evaporate and you will have dried hydrangeas to decorate your home throughout winter and even longer.

A perfect centerpiece for your next party.

We are sad that summer is ending - but at least we can still look at our beautiful hydrangeas for the rest of the year!

BUBBLEGUM PARTY!

a bubblegum party is my fave

Today’s post is from super crafter and cute mom, Amelia of The Homebook via http://www.youaremyfave.com/2013/08/07/a-bubblegum-party-is-my-fave/.
This would have never worked in my house growing up since we had a strict no chewing rule but now I want every party to be bubblegum themed.

Oh, you know, just fulfilling all of my childhood dreams with this party theme. Am I the only kid who was obsessed with bubblegum? I asked for some at every checkout line, I’m sure of it. With a bag of Skittles on the side, please! I don’t know why I never thought to ask my mom for a bubblegum bash when I was younger, because creating this pink party was fun and easy.

Almost all of the supplies I used for the party were found at Target. All you need are a few packs of pink balloons to resemble blown up bubbles of gum (I used pink water balloons for the smaller balloons), and a whole lot of gum. I decorated the cake with bubblegum tape, and topped it with gumballs stuck onto wooden skewers. To add a bit of humor and keep the party from becoming overly pink and precious, I bought a few chattering teeth from my local party store and put them at each place setting with little blown up pink water balloon. These, along with a handful of gumballs, can double as party favors when your guests go home.

For place settings, I cut 4 inch pieces of bubblegum tape and stamped the names of my guests onto them using small letter stamps I had on hand (and found at Michaels a few months ago).

Now, go and throw your own bubblegum party, and make my candy-obsessed childhood dreams come true. And, while you’re at it, maybe make a dentist appointment– because when this party’s over, you’re sure to have a sore jaw. And probably a few cavities. Sorry!

BACK TO SCHOOL BREAKFAST PARTY!

So tomorrow is the day....back to school for our kids here in New Jersey. Can you believe a new school year is here again!
Why not send the kids off on their first day of school in smiles. Hosting a Back to School Breakfast Party for the neighborhood is the perfect way to get everyone hyped up about going back to school.  Invite the families in the neighborhood to stop at your yard for a quick breakfast before heading off to school.
Yummy!

Our guest munched on yogurt and granola cups, donuts, muffins, fruit cups and bagels.  The food and drinks are packaged so they are easy to grab and go.  Whether our friends have five minutes or thirty, they are off to a great start!
You can create a table-scape that is fun & festive by designing your own custom tablecloth (easy DIY later on the blog). Create wrappers and toppers using free printables or clipart.  For this project we used free printables from

Use Bakers Twine on Milk Bottle for a sweet look.
Paper Suitcases add to the table decor.
Ice Cream Cups and Berry Baskets can be used for all sorts of goodies.

Add some cute touches with easy DIY projects. Put a rubber-band around a container, add pencils under the rubber-band to hold in place. Cover the rubber-band with Washi tape or ribbon. This makes a great back to school flower vase.

We always put some sweet stuff on the table!
Paper Vintage Egg Cartons look great with these cute little cupcakes in them.
Our Ice Cream Cups can be used for all sorts of treats!
Cute Milk Bottles with Paper Straws!

Give the kids a special treat for after school.  These pencil goodie boxes are filled with candy but you can also put school supplies in them.  Caudine Hellmuth is an amazing artist who sells illustrated printable kits to download, make and enjoy. These favors are only $3.99 for the template.  Make as many as you want for one low price.
