Homemade Tootsie Rolls
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup dry milk powder (not instant)
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 tablespoons butter melted
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
pinch of salt
In a large bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, salt and dry milk.
Add the corn syrup, melted butter and vanilla.
Mix and knead until the dough comes together and is smooth.
Using a little dough at a time, roll into long strips and cut into desired size.
Refrigerate your tootsie rolls to firm up.
Wrap each tootsie roll in parchment or wax paper.
Makes about 30 one inch Tootsie Rolls
