Witch Hat Piñata

These adorable witch hat piñatas can be used as a place card for your Halloween guests that double as a special take home treat, or make them for your kid's class party.  They only take a few minutes, and are easy to make.

Step 1: Cut a 9" circle out of card stock, and cut in half.  You can make yours as big or small as you want it.  We used a 9" plate as a template, but a circle cutter would work well too.

Step 2: Tape a piece of twine on the straight part of the circle to make a loop to hang your piñata.  It also makes a cute handle so your guest can carry it home!

Step 3: Fold the paper into a cone shape leaving the loop hanging out at the top and tape shut.  This is the top of your witches hat.

Step 4: Fringe one side of the crepe paper.  The easiest way to do this is to fold the crepe paper in layers; cut and pull apart to separate.

Step 5: Rub your glue stick all over the cone.  Starting at the bottom of the cone, wrap your fringed crepe paper around the cone until you get to the top.  If you run out, just fringe some more crepe paper and continue.

STEP 6: Fill your cone with candy and confetti.  We added a couple of spider rings too.

Step 7: Cut a small circle out of card board, and glue it to a 5 inch circle cut out of card stock.  Make a hole in the center of the circle, and poke twine through the hole.  Make a knot at the end so it won't go through the hole.  Using white glue, glue this piece on the bottom of your cone.  This is the brim of your hat.

Step 8: We used a 1" circle punch, and personalized our piñatas with these name tags also used as place cards at our Halloween party.  Glue the name tag onto the end of the twine, and use the same size circle for the backing.  We choice "Boo" for the back message.

When your guest pulls on the string, all the goodies will come tumbling out! We loved using these cuties as place cards for our party.  Cute....right?

DIY HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN A BOX!

Materials
White box - We purchased ours from Michael's.
Glue Stick
Ribbon

Directions
Using washi tape, add vertical stripes to the box.  We love washi tape because you can remove it, so if your lines are not straight on the first try you can fix it. Glue the confetti to the lid of the box in a random pattern.  Fill your box with special goodies for your special someone.  Once filled with goodies, tie it up with ribbon, and add some fun tissue balls.

How to make the Straws and Cupcake Topper.  We used washi tape for the fun little flags on our straws and cupcake toppers.  We choose our "HELLO" washi tape and our pretty green washi tape.   Cut a 3” piece of washi tape, lay it on a flat surface and place the straw down on it. Fold over the tape, lining up the two sides before pressing down. Cut about half an inch down the middle and then cut diagonally from each corner to the end of your middle cut.  For the cupcake toppers, we used the same method using wooden skewers, then dipped the ends in glitter and gave them a coat of Modge Podge to keep the glitter from getting on your food.  We tied the straws and cupcake topper with pretty twine.

We used our Happy Birthday Garland on the inside of the box.  When your special someone opens the box, the Happy Birthday Garland will look like a pop up card! When you close the lid of the box, make sure that the banner falls into the box, and isn't stuck in the edges.  Just tape the ends of the garland to the corner of the lid.

Put all your fun goodies in the box.  We put a special present in the Goodie Bag along with the candles, blower, cupcake toppers, straws, confetti balloon and confetti.

Here's a cute DIY for you to celebrate National Watermelon Day. Yes, there really is a day dedicated to watermelons so have a slice on August 3rd and make this cute watermelon garland.

Supplies Needed:
red, green, black and white paper
tape
bakers twine
hole punch
glue stick
scissors

Step 1:  Cut circles out of your paper using a circle cutter or you can trace small bowls and cut out with scissors. These can be any size you want your garland to be, just make the white piece smaller than the green and red smaller than the white.  We used 5 1/2 inch circle for Green paper,  4 1/2 inch circle for white paper and 4 inch circle for red paper. Glue the three pieces together using a glue stick in the order below.

Step 2: Cut your circles in half.

Step 3:  Use hole punch to create seeds from black paper.  Glue some seeds to each red layer using the glue sick.
